Weight of the vinyl has absolutely no effect on sound quality. g is basically a gimmick. What really matters is the mastering, and the quality of vinyl used. Clear/coloured vinyl is hit-and-miss. I have a clear 12" which is so brittle that it sounds noticeably worse each time I play it. But I also have coloured vinyl pressings which sound fine.

Record making techniques were upgraded and improved throughout the decades, but there’s no room for arguments about the following statement – some of the finest vinyl releases were made many years ago, and we’re now here to decide which ones are worthy to be considered the best sounding vinyl records of all time we think every serious vinyl collector should own.

The LP (from "long playing" or "long play") is an analog sound storage medium, a phonograph record format characterized by a speed of 33 1 ⁄ 3 rpm, a or inch ( or cm) diameter, and use of the "microgroove" groove citegvamolidens.osankerosugeticasahumbfolkhamp.couced by Columbia in , it was soon adopted as a new standard by the entire record industry. Apart from a few relatively minor Dimensions: 12 in (30 cm), 10 in (25 cm), 90– g (– oz).

Scuffed, scratched, or dirty old records can sound dreadful; inspect used LPs carefully, or better yet, listen before you buy. At home, you can clean some of the dust and crud off used LPs in .

Jul 29,  · In the time that the dominance of CDs started to erode around the turn of the millennium, we've come to understand the wide range of how mp3s can sound-- how cymbals on a circa k mp3 sound.

There is a recent audiophile trend of issuing albums on two discs instead of one, so they can use fatter grooves to get a better sound.
